Mary’s Story Update

Many of you will recall Mary’s Story, a blog post we shared about a girl we met in Chipata Compound who was disabled and in need of care. Although her parents loved her and did their best to care for her, they lived in poverty and struggled to meet her needs for food, shelter, and medical attention. After meeting her, we felt a strong conviction to help Mary and her family. A few weeks after meeting Mary, a construction team from North America came to Zambia and dedicated their two week trip to updating her home and providing solar panel electricity. Lifesong also hired a local woman to provide daily care for Mary and relieve her aging parents from the intensive demands of her medical condition.

Over the last year, Mary has continued to be cared for by Martha, the local woman Lifesong hired. Because of the constant care she receives, her health has improved and she is doing well. According to both her Mother and Martha, there has been considerable improvement in their living conditions since they started receiving monthly support from Lifesong, which we thank God for! Although we rejoice over this great news, we also grieve with their family as they mourn the passing of Gift’s Father. Please pray that God would be their comfort in this time, and that Lifesong could continue to stand in the gap and provide for their needs, while sharing the love of Jesus.
